Solution 10738

When defining a text object in legacy graphics, space for 4 characters is reserved even if only one character is used. To see this, the character background color must be different from the background color. This is a problem when converting application developed in older versions. It also affects new applications because the box the text is in overlaps other objects.

How do I fix this?

This problem is caused by installing Office 2000. The Arial fonts are updated when installing Office 2000 to NT4 or Windows 2000 sytems. In the FL6.6 and FL7.0 graph task, this causes the rectangle the text is in to be twice the width as before. There is a reference to this in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q238417 that applies to Quicken 98. It is the same issue, but the steps to correct this problem do not apply to FactoryLink.

Replace the following font files that were installed by Office 2000 with the font files of the same name on a system that does not have Office 2000 installed.
arial.ttf
arialbd.ttf
arialbi.ttf
ariali.ttf
ariblk.ttf
