1. Release 2.x Update Information:
----------------------------------

1.a. Release 2.0 Update Information:
-----------------------------------
(Windows and DOS) Release 2.0 Configurator added features:
 - You can modify the default installation directory.
 - You can upload configuration data from the CP module.
 - "Overwrite" Configuration warning message appears prior to downloading.
 - You can print CP Configuration reports to a printer or to the disk.
 - TSAP configuration from 0x00 - 0xFF with COM143 compatibility.
 - The configurator can enable the PLC Clock update from the H1 network
   time master.
 - You can use INS, DEL, and RTN keys on the main window to enter services.

(Windows version only) Release 2.0 configurator added features:
 - Connect to H1 Ethernet communication nodes (requires the 1413 PC card).
 - Continuous real-time Debug with user-selectable sample rate.
 - Copy Configuration Window information between multiple H1 Configurators.

(H1 CP Module) Release 2.0 module added features:
 - With every configuration, a backup of the previous valid configuration
is retained. In case of a bad configuraton download, the backup
automatically replaces the failed configuration attempt.
 - TF Alternate Access allows read/write access to individual elements of
TF array and TF structure variables.
 - Report by Exception (RBE) is supported (RBE is used only by SIMATIC PCS).

Refer to the SIMATIC TI505 SINEC H1 Communication Processor User Manual
(Part Number: PPX:505-8126-2) for further details and instructions.

1.b. Release 2.1 Update Information:
------------------------------------
Windows Release 2.1 Configurator fixes a bug that caused the configurator
to crash when more than 13 remote ethernet connections are defined.
(DOS Configurator does not support remote ethernet connections so it
remains unchanged at Release 2.0.)

2. Compatibility between Release 2.x and previous versions:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Release 1.x configuration files from a diskette can be used (that is,
open and read) with both the DOS and the Windows versions of the
Release 2.x Configurator.

The Release 2.x configurators can communicate with previous releases of the
H1 CP module to gather information for the Diagnostics window. You can
read information about the H1 CP module that helps you verify the module's
current software part numbers. Communication between the Release 2.x
Configurators and earlier versions (that is, versions before Rel 2.0)
of the H1 CP Module and the is subject to the following restrictions:

Windows Configurator
--------------------
The Release 2.x Windows Configurator cannot Upload From or Download To
previous versions of the H1 CP module (versions before Release 2.0).

DOS Configurator
----------------
You can use a Release 2.0 DOS Configurator to upload configurations that
you downloaded into the H1 CP module with a Release 1.x (DOS and Windows)
Configurator; however, your Peer Service Job Definition Remote PLC
information may not be correctly uploaded, and you must examine it and
make corrections where they are appropriate. The Download to CP selection
can be used successfully with earlier releases (before Release 2.0) of the
H1 CP module, although a transfer error displays during the "Testing Module
Configuration" phase. (This error is caused by incompatibility between
versions.)

Recommended Procedure to upgrade the H1 CP module software for
compatibility with Release 2.x Configurators.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Before using the Release 2.x Configurators to communicate with a module,
Siemens recommends that all users upgrade the CP Module S/W as follows:

If you have your present configuration saved in a file on your disk, follow
these steps to upgrade your H1 CP module:

1. Upgrade (program) the CP module Operating System with Release 2.0 S/W
2. Upgrade (setup) the PC with the Release 2.x Configurator.
3. Download the original configuration from the disk file using the
   newly installed Release 2.x Configurator.

If you do not have your present configuration saved in a file on your disk
do the following:

1. Upgrade the CP module operating system with Release 2.0 Software.
2. Install the DOS Configurator Release 2.0.
3. Upload your configuration from your H1 CP module and correct the
Peer Service Job Definition Remote PLC information.
4. Save corrected configuration to a file on your disk.
5. Download the previously saved configuration from the file on your disk
to the upgraded H1 CP module.

3. Installation Requirements:
-----------------------------
The 505 H1 configurator is provided in both Windows and MS-DOS versions
and in both 3.5" and 5.25" disk formats with the CP module.

The MS-DOS Version requires the following to operate:

                - MS-DOS 3.0 or later
		- PC/XT or greater with color monitor
                - 500K RAM available for largest executable
                - 500K Hard disk space available

The Window Version requires the following to operate:

		- 286 or greater, with sufficient RAM to support Windows
                - 1 MB Hard disk space avaialable

Check labels on the disks supplied with CP for version you require.

             to begin installation.
          3. When installation is complete, Type CD\505H1 [ENTER] to change
             to the H1 directory.

NOTE: Any directory name may be used, 505H1 is the default.

          7. Double click on "Configurator" icon to start.

A cable from the 9 pin serial port on your personal computer to the module
is required to configure the module. This cable is available from your
Siemens dealer by ordering part number PPX:2601094-8001. This would be the
same cable normally used to program the 545/555/575 PLC's. If your PC has
a 25 pin serial port you will also need a standard 25 pin female to 9 pin
male adapter available from your computer store.

A kit containing a copy of the Rel 2.x manual containing information and
technical details for both the module and the configurator as well as
disks containing both configurator versions and the CP Module O/S Firmware
is available from your Siemens dealer by ordering part number
PPX:505-CON1434-2.

Refer to the manual furnished with the CP module or purchased separately,
"SIMATIC TI505 SINEC H1 Communication Processor User Manual",
(Part Number: PPX:505-8126-2) for additional instructions.

4. Upgrading to Release 2.x without over writing Release 1.x Configurator
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Windows installation always defaults to the directory name C:\505H1.
If the Release 1.x 505H1-CP1434TF configurator is already installed and
you do not want to install over it, you can prevent over-writing the
existing files by selecting a different directory name.

For instance, if the Release 1.x Configurator is in a directory named
505H1, when the install program for the Release 2.x Configurator first
begins, you must type in a different directory name for the Release 2.x
Configurator to be copied into such as 505H1R2.

If you have installed more than one Windows Configurator using the
installation program, the icons for the two configurators may look alike
in the "Sinec" Program Group of the Windows Program Manager. The user
should select the "File" menu item, select "Properties", and then change
the "Description" for the icon(s) to distinguish between the two programs.

If you install the Rel 2.x configurator into an existing 505H1 directory,
any module configuration files existing in that directory will be preserved.
However, it is always recommended that you copy your existing module
configuration files to another directory or a floppy disk for a backup.
