The VALMET protocol driver will install and run on any IBM PC or PC-compatible computer equipped with:

 - A processor equivalent to an Intel 80486 or later. 
   RLD Automation recommends at least an Intel Pentium-class or compatible processor.
 - A CD-ROM.
 - At least 5 MB of free hard disk space.
 - Microsoft Windows 2000, with at least service pack 4 installed.
 - Tecnomatix FactoryLink 7.5.0, with at least service pack 1 installed.


The main objective of the VALMET protocol driver installation is copying a group of files from the installation media to your computer system. In this group all the files related to the FactoryLink environment are copied to your FactoryLink system directory (normally set by the `FLINK' environment variable), including both the runtime and configuration options. To start the installation procedure: locate the `ValmetInstall.exe' file on the installation media, and execute the setup utility. After starting the setup, some questions have to be answered, the most important one is where your FactoryLink system directory is located. The setup assumes that the environment variable %FLINK% is correct, but gives you the chance to change the directory.
